The shift is 3x12 days from 06:45 to 19:15. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4. The unit serves a high volume of patients across various diagnoses. Candidates should be comfortable with telemetry and cardiac monitoring. Experience with managing dysrhythmias is required. Nurses will work every other weekend as part of their schedule. Skills in post-cardiac procedures and interventions are necessary. Knowledge of feeding tube care is expected. The role includes responsibilities for renal failure management. Candidates should be proficient in IV therapy, including PICC and arterial line management. Nurses must comply with heparin protocols and medication management guidelines. Experience with neurological cases such as CVA and spinal cord injuries is essential. Orthopedic knowledge including total joint replacements is required. The unit often deals with ventilated patients and must manage tracheostomies. Familiarity with isolation precautions and wound care is important. Candidates should have experience in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment. This position is suitable for those with teaching hospital experience. Level I trauma experience is preferred but not mandatory. Nurses must be prepared to float as needed within their scope of practice.
