Position: Part Time - Bilingual Learning Center Assistant & Tutor Reports To: Director FLSA Status: Non-exempt Schedule: Part-Time | Monday–Thursday | 2:30 PM–6:30 PM Pay Range: $17-22 per hour La Escuelita is a bilingual learning center dedicated to helping students build strong academic and language skills in a welcoming, engaging environment. We support students through Spanish instruction, academic tutoring, homework support, and enrichment programs. We are looking for a reliable, energetic, and organized Bilingual Learning Center Assistant & Tutor to support our afternoon programs. This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with children and families and is comfortable helping with a combination of student transportation, tutoring, and light administrative responsibilities. Position Summary The Bilingual Learning Center Assistant & Tutor helps keep our afternoon programs running smoothly. Job Duties Student Pick-Up & Supervision Pick up students from designated local schools and transport them safely to La Escuelita. Maintain safe and professional transportation practices. Help students transition into their afternoon classes and activities. Supervise students before, between, or after tutoring sessions as needed. Tutoring & Academic Support Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group tutoring as needed. Assist students with homework, reading, writing, Spanish, and basic mathematics. Help students stay organized and complete assignments. Support La Escuelita teachers with student activities and learning materials. Front Office & Family Support Welcome students and families arriving at the center. Answer basic questions regarding schedules, classes, tuition, and center procedures. Assist with phone calls, messages, scheduling, and family follow‑up. Help maintain student records and other administrative information. Assist prospective families with basic program information and scheduling trial classes or tours. Learning Center Support Prepare classrooms and materials for afternoon programs. Help maintain an organized, welcoming learning environment. Assist teachers and the Director with day‑to‑day center needs. Help with student dismissal and ensure students leave with authorized adults. Complete other reasonable duties related to the daily operation of the learning center. Qualifications Fluent or highly proficient in English and Spanish Valid driver's license and clean driving record Reliable and responsible Comfortable driving and transporting school‑age children Experience working with children in a school, tutoring center, after‑school program, childcare setting, or similar environment preferred Comfortable assisting elementary and middle‑school students academically Strong communication and customer‑service skills Organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities Comfortable using basic technology, email, and scheduling systems Able to work independently and take initiative College students studying education, child development, psychology, Spanish, liberal studies, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Requirments Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish, with ability to read, write, and speak both languages. Must be available to work in the afternoons Monday to Thursday. Knowledge of Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs is required; knowledge of Google Classroom is preferred. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
