Basic Purpose
The Emissions Inventory Section collects criteria air pollutant and hazardous air pollutant emissions inventories from over 14,000 regulated facilities in Oklahoma. A facility (point source) emissions inventory is a report with detailed information about equipment and activities that release emissions, the processes that occur at these equipment, and quantities of emissions. The collected inventories are used in estimating point and area source emission amounts for the U.S. EPA's National Emissions Inventory.
Typical Functions
Predominantly (up to 95%) in an office setting, work with other section members to perform all duties assigned in order to complete the annual air emission inventory process for over 14,000 permitted facilities statewide. The process includes production, distribution, collection, and verification of math calculations for air emission inventories. All regulated facilities (with the exception of <100 dry cleaners) utilize our online reporting system, SLEIS.
Provide good customer service – provide assistance and training to industry on preparing and submitting annual emissions inventories, including giving formal presentations and public speaking. Respond to customer inquiries received via phone, email, and office visits, following established procedures and timelines.
Position focus is on data analysis. Perform quality control on submitted inventories, and as assigned, electronically submit the required inventories to EPA. Work with other section members to estimate emissions from source types other than point source.
Use word processing programs, databases, spreadsheets, and other applicable software for the entry, review and analysis of inventory data. Produce reports and charts using the data in response to requests from other sections, agencies and the public.
Become knowledgeable of TEAM and OKEIS, the Air Quality Division's main databases; SLEIS; WebFIRE, EPA's online emission factors database; EIS, EPA's Emissions Inventory reporting System; and other similar emission inventory tools.
