New Orleans Smiles is seeking an experienced and motivated Bilingual Clinical Lead for General Dentistry to join our growing team.
This position is ideal for an experienced dental assistant who is ready to take on a leadership role while remaining actively involved in patient care and daily clinical operations.

The General Dental Clinical Lead is responsible for supporting the overall organization, efficiency, and clinical performance of the general dentistry department. This role works closely with our general dentists, dental assistants, administrative team, and practice leadership to help ensure smooth patient flow, consistent clinical standards, strong communication, and an excellent patient experience.
The Clinical Lead serves as a bridge between the providers and the clinical team — helping maintain organization, accountability, training, and communication while supporting a positive and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

Clinical Team Leadership

• Provide day-to-day guidance and support to general dental assistants
• Help train, mentor, and onboard new clinical team members
• Reinforce clinical expectations, protocols, and office standards
• Help identify training needs and opportunities for improvement
• Encourage teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and clear communication

Daily Clinical Workflow

• Support efficient patient flow throughout the general dentistry department
• Coordinate with providers and assistants to keep the clinical schedule running smoothly
• Help anticipate provider and patient needs throughout the day
• Assist with managing schedule changes, emergencies, and clinical workflow challenges
• Work collaboratively with the administrative team to address scheduling or patient-flow concerns

Chairside & Clinical Support

• Provide chairside assistance during general dental procedures as needed
• Assist with restorative, crown and bridge, oral surgery, endodontic, periodontal, and other general dental procedures within scope of training and certification
• Take dental X-rays, intraoral images, scans, impressions, and clinical photographs as appropriate
• Support accurate charting and clinical documentation
• Help ensure treatment plans and clinical instructions are communicated clearly to the appropriate team members

Operatory, Supply & Equipment Oversight

• Ensure operatories are properly prepared, stocked, cleaned, and organized
• Monitor clinical supplies and communicate inventory needs before shortages occur
• Help maintain proper organization of instruments, materials, and equipment
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment concerns and communicating repair needs to leadership
• Support proper sterilization processes and infection-control standards

Patient Care & Experience

• Help create a welcoming, professional, and comfortable experience for patients
• Support patient education before, during, and after treatment
• Communicate effectively with both English- and Spanish-speaking patients
• Assist with resolving clinical questions or concerns appropriately
• Promote consistent, compassionate, and high-quality patient care

Communication & Department Coordination

• Maintain strong communication between dentists, dental assistants, administrative staff, and practice leadership
• Participate in team meetings, clinical meetings, and leadership discussions as needed
• Communicate workflow concerns, staffing needs, supply issues, or recurring clinical challenges to management
• Help implement new clinical systems, protocols, and office improvements

Required Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Minimum 3–5 years of dental assisting experience
• EDDA certification
• Strong knowledge of dental procedures and clinical workflows
• Demonstrated leadership capability
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Professional, reliable, and patient-focused
• Availability to work scheduled Saturdays (select or alternating) as part of a full-time schedule

Compensation & Benefits
$17.00 – $20.00 per hour
Pay will be based on experience and qualifications.
