Doctor of Medicine | Surgery - General/Other Location: Lima, OH Employer: VieMed Healthcare Staffing Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Start Date: ASAP About the Position Enhanced Job Description: Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Locum to Perm) – Lima, OH Location: 730 West Market Street, Lima, Ohio 45801, United States Position Summary: Bon Secours Mercy Health's St. Rita’s Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide locum coverage with the potential for a permanent position. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert care in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), arterial revascularization (using internal mammary arteries, radial artery, and gastroepiploic artery), and redo coronary revascularization procedures, with or without concomitant heart valve surgeries. Perform heart valve repairs and replacements, including mitral valve repair/replacement and other cardiac surgeries as needed. Manage adult patients requiring urgent and elective surgical interventions, ensuring high standards of patient safety and care quality. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and physician assistants, to deliver comprehensive cardiac surgical services. Document all procedures meticulously in the Epic EMR system and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and standards. Participate in on-call rotations, providing coverage for emergent and scheduled cases, with an expected 10-14 days of call per month. Actively contribute to patient rounds, consultations, and post-operative care to optimize patient outcomes. Practice Setting: Hospital-based environment with a dedicated surgical team and support staff, including three Physician Assistants. Trauma Level II designation with 20 operating rooms, facilitating a broad range of complex cardiac cases. Schedule & Coverage Details: Availability for 24-hour call shifts on designated dates, including but not limited to: July 9–16 July 29–August 5 August 20–27 September 11–16 September 28–October 2 October 26–November 4 December 16–23 Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 30 days; emergency privileges will be considered based on candidate credentials. Qualifications and Requirements: Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery. Valid ACLS and BLS certifications. Proven experience in performing complex cardiac surgeries, including CABG and valve procedures. Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment. Ability to obtain hospital privileges in Ohio, with a clear understanding of credentialing processes. Compensation & Benefits: Competitive hourly pay rates, commensurate with experience. Lodging provided at approximately $150 per night, with flexible arrangements for other travel accommodations at standard rates.
