ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SOCIAL WORK (GENERALIST PRACTICE) The University of California State University, East Bay (CSUEB) is a comprehensive institution within the California State University system. The Department of Social Work prepares culturally responsive practitioners through its Master of Social Work (MSW) and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) programs, emphasizing social justice and community engagement.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION

Teach and provide curricular leadership in the MSW generalist and advanced generalist practice sequence, with emphasis on culturally responsive, community‑engaged, and justice‑oriented social work practice. Potentially teach across the MSW and BSW curricula, including practice, policy, human behavior, research, capstone, practicum seminar, and related courses aligned with the candidate's expertise. Engage in teaching, advising, and research, as well as service at the departmental, college, university, and community levels. Prepare to deliver courses in‑person, hybrid, and/or fully online formats, and to support community engagement activities. Participate in committee work, including campus‑wide responsibilities, and contribute to departmental governance.

RANK AND SALARY

Assistant Professor. Salary depends on educational preparation and experience, subject to budgetary authorization. Anticipated salary: $80,100 - $85,848.

DATE OF APPOINTMENT

Fall Semester, 2027.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master of Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited institution. At least two years of full‑time post‑master's social work practice experience. Doctorate (Ph.D. in social work, D.S.W., or related discipline) completed by the effective date of appointment. Preparation to teach MSW generalist and/or advanced generalist practice courses. At least a semester of teaching experience, advising, and/or mentoring students from diverse backgrounds; experience as instructor of record for at least one social work or social science course at the bachelor’s or master’s level. Experience teaching MSW practice courses, curriculum development, and hybrid/online modalities is preferred. Familiarity with CSWE competency‑based education and commitment to culturally responsive, community‑engaged, and justice‑oriented practice. Record of scholarly activity and contribution to diversity and excellence are required.
