Business Development Leader

Compensation: $130,000 - $165,000 base salary + comprehensive benefits package About the Opportunity A growing employee-owned engineering and consulting organization is seeking a Business Development Director to help drive strategic growth across multiple service lines and geographic markets. This leadership position combines high-level business development strategy with hands-on execution, partnering closely with executive leadership to identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and position the firm for long-term success. This role is ideal for a business development professional who understands the AEC industry, enjoys building and leading teams, and has a successful track record of developing winning pursuit strategies and capturing new work. What You'll Be Doing Lead and coordinate business development efforts across the organization. Develop and implement growth strategies aligned with company objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders. Oversee CRM utilization and business development tracking initiatives. Collaborate with technical and operational teams to support proposals, pursuit planning, fee development, and client presentations. Establish and enhance seller-doer programs, training initiatives, and best practices. Evaluate opportunities and pursuits to ensure alignment with long-term business goals. Guide pursuit teams through go/no-go decisions, capture planning, and win strategy development. Monitor industry trends, emerging markets, and growth opportunities. Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client meetings. Travel as needed to support business development activities. Leadership Responsibilities Manage and mentor a team supporting proposals, pursuits, and business development initiatives. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide coaching and professional development for business development and marketing professionals. Coordinate resources and priorities to ensure high-quality deliverables and pursuit efforts. What We're Looking For 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, marketing, or client development. Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives. Experience within engineering, consulting, construction, infrastructure, environmental services, or related professional services industries. Proven ability to win and grow strategic client relationships. Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. Experience developing and executing business growth strategies. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with technical and executive stakeholders. Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented. Education Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications are a plus. Why Join?
