Billing Specialist Key Requirements:

• Prior experience in medical billing or insurance processing preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Familiarity with insurance claim submission processes
• Ability to accurately review and verify claim information
• Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
• Discretion and adherence to HIPAA confidentiality standards
• Capable of reviewing medical records requests and retrieving necessary documentation

Billing Specialist Main Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit insurance claims promptly to various payers, ensuring all required supporting documents are included
• Double-check claims for accuracy and completeness prior to submission
• Review and assemble medical record requests from insurance companies within specified timelines
• Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
• Log all claim activity and correspondence accurately in the billing system
• Assist in scanning documents and managing department mail
• Perform additional duties as needed, including filing and addressing claim rejections
