Student Assistant - Chancellor’s Office Human Resources

Student Assistant – Chancellor’s Office Human Resources The CSU Office of the Chancellor is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Assistant to provide clerical front‑desk support to the Chancellor’s Office Human Resources department. The position is part‑time, temporary, with no benefits, and requires a minimum of 20 hours per week (up to 40 hours during breaks). The work hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with on‑site work at the main headquarters in Long Beach, California. The anticipated salary is $18.00 per hour (range $16.90–$24.00). Job Summary Under direct supervision the Student Assistant will perform clerical activities in support of the department. Typical duties include telephone and front‑desk coverage, maintaining files and records, preparing mailings, scanning and other administrative duties as assigned. Responsibilities Provide telephone and front‑desk coverage. Maintain files, records, and spreadsheets. Copy, collate, and scan documents. Support mail distribution and general office operations. Assist with new‑hire onboarding preparation and coordination. Assist with special projects, including document editing and basic design/communications support. Assist with COHR marketing activities. Provide general administrative support to COHR staff as needed. Minimum Qualifications Current enrollment in at least 6 units at a CSU campus. Basic experience in an office environment and knowledge of general office procedures. Proficiency with current software applications such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Smartsheet, and Adobe. Ability to learn and perform assigned work, handle multiple tasks and changing priorities. Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as required. Preferred Skills SharePoint, Adobe, Canva, Workvivo experience.
