Payroll Specialist

About the job: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for employees while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role manages payroll records, reviews timekeeping data, processes deductions and benefit changes, and responds to employee payroll inquiries. The Payroll Specialist works closely with Human Resources and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
• Review and validate employee time and attendance records
• Maintain payroll records and employee data in payroll systems
• Process payroll deductions, garnishments, taxes, and benefit changes
• Ensure compliance with payroll laws and company policies
• Reconcile payroll reports and assist with audits and year-end processing
• Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 5 years payroll processing experience
• Experience with of ADP Workforce Now
• Knowledge of FLSA and other federal, state, and local employment laws
• Multi-state payroll experience
• ERP system experience
• Wage garnishment and tax levy experience
• Union or prevailing wage payroll experience
• Must be able to work with confidential material/information
• Must be analytical and have above average organizational and time management skills
• Must be able to prioritize and work independently or as a team member as needed
• Demonstrated proficiency in the utilization of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong customer service abilities

Compensation: $63,000 - $75,000
