About the Position The Professional Development (PD) Manager is a highly motivated individual with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities. The PD Manager is a member of the Recruiting & PD team and works closely with the Chief Recruiting & PD Officer and the recruiting team. Together they develop and implement critical professional development initiatives across Allen Matkins’ California offices, with in‑office responsibilities and hybrid work options. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage the firm’s associate development function, including training, evaluation, mentoring, and career progression initiatives. Lead the planning and execution of internal training programs, coordinating curriculum, faculty, and practice group needs. Oversee associate performance evaluation processes, manage timelines, system administration, feedback collection, and evaluation drafting. Collaborate with practice group leaders to support associate development, coaching, and advising on skill gaps, work allocation, and career progression. Design and monitor mentoring programs, tracking participation and effectiveness. Manage CLE activities, including provider accreditation. Supervise coaching engagements and vendors. Lead onboarding, orientation, and integration of first‑year associate classes. Coordinate external vendors and training providers, including budgeting and program evaluation. Education and/or Experience Advanced degree in organizational development or a J.D. (preferred). 5+ years of increasing experience in law firm talent management (professional services experience required). Outstanding attention to detail, accuracy, and follow‑through. Ability and desire to learn and implement new technology. Capability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment to achieve business goals. Strong data and analytics knowledge, with the ability to review metrics, measure value, and take appropriate action. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with CE Manager and Flo strongly preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality, use discretion, and exercise sound judgment. Willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed. Compensation Allen Matkins offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The anticipated base salary range for this full‑time role is $140,000.00 – $190,000.00 per year.
