Description
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations utilizing standardized assessments and observational techniques.
  • Create tailored treatment plans focused on both immediate goals and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing outcomes.
  • Provide individualized speech therapy concentrating on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing interventions.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary collaborations with physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregiver teams to develop integrated care strategies.
  • Facilitate education for patients and their families to reinforce progress beyond therapy sessions.
  • Provide occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions to ensure a seamless continuity of care.
  • Keep accurate and timely records in compliance with regulatory, state, and organizational guidelines.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by staying current with developments in speech-language pathology through continuing education and teamwork with peers.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), if applicable, prior to obtaining ASHA certification.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be acquired within the first month of employment.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches applicable to all age groups, combined with a nuanced understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional communication skills allowing effective engagement with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adapts treatment modalities to honor the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of clients.
  • Possesses strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and documentation practices.
