Neuro PCU RN Job Breakdown

Shift: 3x12 Days (06:45–19:15)
Weekly Hours: 36 hrs
Unit: Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Charting: EPIC
Ratio: 1:4–5

Core Responsibilities

• Direct Neuro PCU Care: ~18–20 hrs/week
  Caring for stroke patients, neurosurgical recoveries, epilepsy monitoring patients, and other neurological diagnoses.
• Neuro & Cardiac Monitoring: ~5–6 hrs/week
  Frequent neuro assessments, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and rapid response activation.
• Medication & IV Therapy: ~4–5 hrs/week
  Cardiac drips (non-titratable), blood administration, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management.
• Respiratory Support: ~2–3 hrs/week
  Oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and respiratory monitoring.
• Documentation & Care Coordination: ~4–5 hrs/week
  EPIC charting, interdisciplinary collaboration, care planning, and patient/family education.

Key Requirements

• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
• EPIC experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Active VA or Compact RN License (pending license accepted under facility guidelines)
• Comfortable with 1:5 patient ratio
• Strong Neuro, PCU, Stepdown, or Stroke experience preferred

• Level I Trauma Center & Magnet-designated teaching hospital
