This role reads blueprint drawings to plan layout, and weld components to specification. The welder must be proficient in 2G TIG welding on thin materials, our primary welding method, as well as other welding processes as needed.Read blueprints and drawings and take measurements to plan layout and welding proceduresDetermine appropriate welding equipment and method based on job requirementsSet up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws to match measurementsBuild and interpret fixtures and jigs as neededOperate angle grinders to prepare parts for weldingAlign and clamp components using calipers, tape measures, rulers, and other measurement toolsWeld components using manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in multiple positions (vertical, horizontal)Repair machinery and components by welding and filling gapsTest and inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flawsMaintain equipment and work area in a clean, safe, and orderly conditionWhat Makes You SuccessfulYou may be a great fit if you:Enjoy hands-on, active work.Take pride in accuracy and attention to detail.Work well independently and as part of a team.Stay organized in a fast-paced environment.Communicate clearly and professionally.Are committed to workplace safety and quality.Have a steady hand and enjoy precision, detail-driven craftsmanship.What You'll BringHigh school diploma or equivalent.Previous welding experience required.Welding certification required.Strong attention to detail, technical precision, and safety awareness.Physical RequirementsThis position may require sitting, standing or walking for extended periods, occasionally lifting materials up to 50 pounds, repetitive bending and reaching, and safely operating potentially dangerous equipment.About Flexible MetalFlexible Metal, a Hyspan Company, manufactures precision metal bellows and expansion joints used in demanding industrial applications across North America.
