Essential Duties and Responsibilities Designs components or major portions of a battery system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Supervisory responsibilities will include the management of technicians and assemblers to accomplish program objectives, such as the build and test of prototype hardware and batteries. Performs research, design, and development in such areas as mechanical, chemical, electrical, and other related engineering design functions. Develops specifications for selecting components and equipment to use. Utilizing computer-aided design equipment, develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength‑weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts and also responsible for prototype fabrication. The successful candidate will also prepare and present technical design and data at program review meetings. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in either Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required. Working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Project is required. Effective communication and presentation skills are required. Working knowledge of ANSYS is a plus. Analysis software (COSMOS-M or ProMechanica) is a plus. Planning, analytical, assertive, and ability to interact with other groups. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities, military, industry, and federal standards. Supervisory experience preferred. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
