Department Website: Director's EEO Policy : Director's EEO Policy Statement: Job Description And Duties Under the general direction of the Public information Branch Chief the Public Information Officer (PIO) is a part of a team that provides general information regarding departmental functions, services and programs to the general public, transportation partners and community organizations. This is accomplished by telephone, in person, e-mail and public meetings. As a team member, incumbent is involved timely and accurate responses to the California Public Records Act inquiries; coordination with other divisions and branches for developing public meeting process, including environmental document review. California Public Records Act: Facilitates assistance with requests made through the California Public Records Act, including documenting and tracking requests on a database, and coordinating document retrieval with technical sources and branches. Assures records are provided in a timely and accurate manner within statutory timelines and guidelines, per Government Code Section 6250. Advises management of sensitive issues and coordinates records requests review with the Department's Public Information Officers, Headquarters and Legal Office for review of potential legal and sensitive issues. Maintains databases and prepares reports to management. CPRA requests for confidential information, including plans for our structures. CPRA request have been for litigation purposes, primarily against the Department. Analyst will advise legal and management, including the executive level, of the possibility of risks from disclosing information. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions.
