Supervisor Intellectual - Developmental Disabilities

Overview Full‑time supervisor position in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Program at the Guidance Center. The Guidance Center is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a welcoming place for everyone. With 25 programs, we provide treatment, prevention, growth, and education services to more than 14,200 people annually. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with at least one late evening shift per week. Additional hours may be required for evenings or weekends based on client and program needs. The role is in the field of intellectual‑developmental disabilities, social work, counseling, therapy, and psychology. Responsibilities Provide standard and clinical supervision to staff members utilizing a variety of supervisory methodologies. Manage and process crisis situations with program staff and clients. Maintain electronic medical record training and train new staff; assist staff with questions and concerns. Review all treatment records and reports and provide direction for documentation improvement. Manage staff and department within the span of control, including interviewing, selecting, hiring, and terminating staff; setting and adjusting hours of work; onboarding and training staff; directing work and assignments; appraising and evaluating staff performance; handling complaints and grievances; and disciplining employees. Participate in monthly Total Quality Management Committee meetings, actively implement agency quality improvement initiatives, and monitor adherence to established policies. Supervise case program consultations with staff. Maintain consistent and organized systems to ensure Habilitation Waiver, Children’s Waiver, and other funding source requirements are followed as mandated. Assist clinical staff in assessing and utilizing data from electronic medical record reports on waivers, productivity, and other areas of the I/DD program to ensure staff and program meet expectations. Assess community needs, assign priorities, and provide service when indicated. Assess need for psychiatric, psychological, and case management services and monitor delivery. Work in conjunction with inter‑departmental groups to ensure smooth and consistent program administration. Complete documentation, referrals, and other required paperwork. Provide day‑to‑day supervision of staff. Work collaboratively with Program Director and Finance to ensure funding requirements and budgetary guidelines are met. Abide by, support, and train staff in Person‑Centered Planning guidelines. Other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling. Must possess and retain current full Master’s licensure in the State of Michigan; LMSW, LLP licensure preferred. Candidate must have at least one year of experience in examining, evaluating, and treating children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disability diagnoses using relevant treatment modalities. Experience working with Waivers desirable. Must meet the requirements for Children’s Mental Health Professional (CMHP) and Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) within 120 days of hire. Experience with electronic medical record highly preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to be organized, creative, flexible, and provide non‑judgmental, culturally competent, unconditional care. Individual must be highly organized and demonstrate competence in providing services to consumers of psychiatric and specialized services. Must have a valid driver’s license and favorable driving record. Must have the ability to appropriately handle crisis situations.
