Details Work in the Labor & Delivery unit of a hospital's birth center Provide direct patient care to women in labor, through delivery, postpartum, and to newborns Prepare for C-sections and inductions Night shift schedule from 7:00pm to 7:00am 36 hours per week May rotate shifts and areas based on staffing and census needs On-call required Requirements Active CO or compact RN license required Current CPR certification required Neonatal Resuscitation Certification and ACLS required within one year of employment Minimum 7 years of nursing experience required Obstetrics care experience preferred Knowledge of labor, delivery, postpartum, and mother/infant nursing care essentials Skilled in sterile technique and infection control principles Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations Strong communication skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of people Ability to stand and walk for long periods and perform heavy lifting Willingness to work in environments with exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases Additional Information Perform assessments and monitor the labor process with proper documentation of nursing care Administer IV medications and adhere to infection control principles and OB department policies Prepare delivery rooms, provide emotional support to patients, and coordinate transfers Provide patient education during labor, post-delivery, and postpartum care including infant care Reports directly to the Birth Center Manager American Traveler Job ID P-745730.
