Job Summary Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - Westroads Office Park III Address: 1120 N. 103rd Plaza - Omaha, NE Work Schedule: Casual/PRN position; employees work on an ‘as needed’ basis to meet the needs of the business. Work days and hours vary from week to week Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Registered Nurses (RNs) will monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions and be involved in every aspect of the patients’ health. Precision and accuracy in maintaining detailed reports are important for relaying information to doctors or patients. RNs will prepare, assist, and instruct patients for examinations and treatments and inform family members on health‑care education topics. Responsibilities Document all labs, procedures, and appointments on tracking forms. Complete tracking forms and follow up on missed appointments and procedures. Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed. Provide patient and family education to ensure adequate knowledge and awareness, and recommend community resources. Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs by recording and reporting patient condition to the provider and advising patients based on provider instructions. Receive and return patient calls within 90 minutes based on medical priority. Accurately record and report patient condition according to department policy. Maintain clean and organized work areas according to department/provider protocol. Handle prescription renewals and inquiries to facilitate patient care; discuss questions with provider and relay information to pharmacy. Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria. Prepare exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examination of patients by setting up instruments, equipment, and stocking supplies. Prepare patient for provider exam by reviewing medical records, weighing patient, checking vital signs, performing medication reconciliation, and obtaining relevant information. Assist providers to retrieve tests and medical records and obtain lab work as directed. Dispense medications at the direction of a provider to patients; instruct patients and family members regarding education and treatment. Assist and/or perform phlebotomy with proper labeling and handling of specimens, accurately complete requisitions, and collect specimens according to standard procedures. Ensure accuracy of order entry and complete appropriate documentation without error. Answer phone calls according to protocol. Return phone messages according to protocol. Provide test results according to protocol. Accurately complete pharmacy refills. Job Requirements Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Experience If the specialty is not listed, no prior experience is required. Experience required: Heart Consultants – 2 years general nursing. Experience preferred: Heart Consultants – 1 year cardiology experience. License/Certifications Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire. Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license to work in Nebraska or Iowa, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required. Maintain current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures. Knowledge of medicine including recognition and diagnosis of diseases, deformities, and other illnesses. Skill to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Skill to type information into the computer quickly and accurately. Ability to provide caring patient‑care services when talking with patients and their family members. Ability to critically listen to questions from patients and providers to convey information effectively. Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve problems before they occur and avoid bigger problems. Ability to problem‑solve during daily activities with flexibility. Ability to learn and navigate computer programs that contain patient information. Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with providers, staff, and patients. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and directions. Physical Requirements Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
