Bookkeeper

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of client accounts, maintain accurate financial records, and support ongoing reporting and tax compliance needs. This role is responsible for delivering timely bookkeeping services, handling multiple accounts at once, and serving as a reliable point of contact for client-related accounting matters.

Primary Responsibilities

• Record and process monthly financial activity for assigned clients accurately and on schedule.
• Request and collect required client documentation, including check copies, income details, accounts payable and receivable information, and inventory data.
• Maintain confidential financial and tax-related information, including online account access and sensitive records.
• Track work progress and update monthly workflow documentation.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and compare balances to client records when applicable.
• Use QuickBooks Online to complete bookkeeping tasks and produce financial reports.
• Prepare schedules, reports, and supporting documentation using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records, including updates for newly acquired assets.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns, communicate payment amounts and due dates to clients, and respond to notices or related correspondence.
• Communicate payroll tax deposit obligations to clients, including due dates and required amounts.
• Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings.
• Complete additional tax filings as needed, including mercantile, business privilege, and alcohol tax returns.
• Serve as a client contact by responding to questions and providing timely, professional support.
• Manage approximately 30 to 35 client accounts while ensuring all work is completed accurately and within deadlines.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple client accounts at once.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective communication skills and a client-service mindset.
