About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute care License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler will be required to PASS an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Experience with CVL management/placement, foley catheter management, tube feedings via NGT or PEG, and arterial lines is required. Knowledge in diabetes management and drip titration for Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin is preferred. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a stepdown unit. The unit has a total of 12 beds. The patient population includes individuals with respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, DKA, and those post heart catheterization or aortogram/arteriogram. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3. Charge nurses will take patient assignments. There is no phlebotomy support on the unit. An IV/VAT team is available for PICC/midline placement. A resource nurse is available, depending on staffing. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalist services are also available around the clock. The charting system used is Meditech Expanse with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis for medication dispensing. Travelers may float to a stroke unit or a MedSurg unit where the ratio is 1:5-6. Weekend rotation is mandatory, with work scheduled for every other weekend. Travelers may work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. There is a restriction of up to 7 days of requested time off, and contracts must be extended for any full week of requested time off. Only one weekend of requested time off is allowed per contract. Travelers will work during 2 out of 3 major holidays. Professionalism is a mandatory requirement in patient care areas. Cell phone usage is not allowed, earbuds cannot be worn, and eating at the desk is prohibited. Scrub color is pewter, and acceptable t-shirts are gray, white, or black. Jackets must be gray or black, and badges must be visibly worn above the waist at all times.
