What We’re Doing Within the AIMS IE organization, the Controls & Automation Products department provides essential control system capabilities that enable shipboard operations across a variety of platforms and customers. The Work The Systems Engineer Sr. will be supporting all of the Machinery Controls and Automation programs within RMS. Responsibilities include: System integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Analyses at all levels of the total system product, including concept, requirements design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Work in an accelerated team environment leading a multi‑disciplinary engineering team for the Machinery Controls Product Line. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering. Experience with requirements development, understanding of system architecture, integration, and verification. Ability to interpret schematics, ICDs, and engineering documentation. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance. Desired Skills Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Familiarity with MBSE, SysML, Cameo, or digital engineering tools. Background in embedded control systems, networks, or real‑time architectures. Experience with hardware/software integration and troubleshooting. Knowledge of Navy systems, DoD acquisition, or maritime platforms. Ability to lead technical teams, drive decisions, and manage technical risk. Experience developing test plans, verification matrices, and system‑level documentation.
