Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 24 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

• 24 months gap required between for Travel at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for travelers. Failure to adhere may result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

Special Requests: - If candidate worked at a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from the perm facility. - Cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. - At least 1 reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job being applied to.

Unit Details: - Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5-7 on days, 1:6-8 on nights. - Common diagnoses/patient population: pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls/weakness. - RNs titrate drips with exceptions; no cardiac drip titration. Common drips: heparin, bumex, lasix. - RT manages BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow O2, breathing treatments, inhalers, and ABGs; RNs are typically only expected to monitor. - Monitor tech reads and monitors telemetry patients; nurses are not expected to read and interpret telemetry.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend. - Holidays go by rotation for RNs. - No call.

Floating Requirements: - Floating and shift pull rotation. May be floated to any other MS, MS-Tele, or IMC for lower-acuity patients on the floor.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 2 years

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission
