$6,339.00 - $10,609.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable. Job Overview Under the direction of the Supervising Investigator I, the Health Quality Investigation Unit (HQIU) San Diego Field Office conducts sensitive, complex, and diverse administrative, criminal, and civil investigations of physicians, surgeons, and allied health professionals. Investigations cover areas such as sexual exploitation of patients, drug violations, unlicensed practice of medicine, insurance fraud, and impairment-related claims. Responsibilities

• Conducts the most sensitive, complex, and diverse investigations involving healthcare professionals.
• Investigates a wide range of cases including but not limited to sexual exploitation, drug violations, unlicensed practice, insurance fraud, and impairment while practicing medicine.
• Maintains an inclusive, inclusive, safe work environment and collaborates with underserved communities and tribal governments to improve outcomes for all Californians.

Required Qualifications Peace Officer status is required. Must meet California Penal Code Section 832 et seq. and complete POST training as prescribed by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). Must be a California resident at the time of hiring. Desirable Qualifications Certificate of Completion from POST Basic Academy or Specialized Basic Investigators’ Certificate of Completion. Four‑year degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, administration of justice, police science, criminology, or a comparable field of study. Experience in investigative work involving healthcare professionals. Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and ethical standards.
