Overview: Hospital-based opportunity seeking an experienced OB Hospitalist to provide 24-hour in-house coverage for OBED and emergent obstetric patients. The role is strictly inpatient with no GYN responsibilities and strong specialty support onsite.

Practice Highlights:

• Inpatient OB Hospitalist role
• 24-hour in-house call coverage (7a7a)
• 8-bed OBED
• Approx. 1,389 OBED visits per year , with ~463 deliveries annually
• MFM on call ; residents onsite (OB Hospitalist not responsible for supervision)
• Only maternity transport team in Iowa
• Medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy onsite
• No GYN responsibilities
• EMR: Epic

Candidate Requirements:

• Board Certified in OB/GYN Required (Truly Board Eligible candidates will be considered)
• Active Iowa license strongly preferred OR Active IMLC Required (LOQ must be uploaded at time of name clear)
• Must be able to start ASAP Required
• Clean malpractice history and background Required
• Self-Query NPDB (pulled within the last 30 days) Required at submission
• Providers local to the Des Moines area will not be accepted Required

Schedule & Coverage:

• Start Date: ASAP
• 24-hour shifts required (7a7a)
• Providers may not work more than two 24-hour shifts consecutively
• 24/7 in-house call with call rooms available
• Inpatient coverage at OBED and Labor & Delivery

Job Responsibilities:

• Management of OBED patients
• Care for emergent obstetric cases , including vaginal deliveries and C-sections
• Coverage for patients without a primary OBGYN
• Participation in maternity transport coverage as needed
