Program Coordinator The Arc Of Southern Maryland, Lexington Park, Maryland, United States About this position FSLA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt SALARY: $50,000 SIGN-ON BONUS: Sign-on bonus of $1,000 payable in two installments ($500.00 after the first 3 months, $500.00 after satisfactory completion of 12-month period.) JOB PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Program Manager the Program Coordinator will have responsibility for carrying out the day‑to‑day functions of their assigned home. This includes securing the well‑being and safety of individuals with disabilities which requires assisting individuals with personal care and daily living skills; training and supervision of Direct Support staff; maintaining house/site facilities; and a broad range of program‑wide administrative tasks within the designated area. This position requires a commitment to individual choice and community integration and inclusion. Travel by car is necessary and a great deal of time will be spent in individual houses/sites. The position requires the ability to work where needed within the Tri‑County area. In addition, responding to emergencies during and after hours, on weekends, and holidays is required when applicable. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: SUPERVISING DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) Schedule planning and review Maintaining adequate staffing ratios Approve leave/timecard review and submit to Program Manager for review Fill in for staff when needed to cover shifts Assist the Program Manager with interviewing and hiring of potential direct support staff Provide individualized orientation to new staff members, mentor and provide appropriate/constructive feedback, when applicable Assure adherence to policies and procedures through training feedback Delegate and assign duties to DSPs Ensure review/signatures of all plans (nursing, behavior, etc.) Monitor electronic health record for case notes and documentation (client dashboard) All assigned tasks completed daily and logged accurately Complete house inspections/fire drills and monthly attendance Coordinate/facilitate house meetings FINANCES/MANAGEMENT Ensure homes operate appropriately and within budgetary guidelines while maintaining the highest possible quality of living standards Ensure in‑house consumer monthly finances (cash on hand) are managed appropriately Monitor that spending does not exceed given amount for benefits (spending as needed when determined by manager) Maintain appropriate budgetary responsibility for Impress account (food) and SNAP (individual food account) documentation Complete the PCP in the electronic health record for review Train staff on all plans Review all incident reports for accuracy and corrections before submitting for review HEALTH AND WELLNESS Responsible for all medical appointments/paperwork Primarily responsible for tracking, carrying out and documenting all medical appointments for the individuals, delegating to DSP as needed Schedule and plan activities for consumers to participate in weekly/monthly During emergencies, act as manager for coverage while assisting at the hospital Monitor routine and emergency medical/dental services and medication reviews as appropriate Ensure DSPs monitor (to ensure proper nutritional value) and/or consumer hygiene practices PROFESSIONALISM Model initiative and creative problem solving Demonstrate appropriate workplace behavior, modeling the agency’s core philosophy Demonstrate role model behavior Maintain confidentiality in relation to individuals and staff issues OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES May perform other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS (Minimum) High School Diploma or equivalency required; an Associate Degree in human services or related field preferred Two years of progressively responsible experience working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this requirement Personable, energetic and strong communication skills, both orally and in writing Knowledge of community resources available Strong interpersonal skills Willingness to work anywhere within the Tri-County area (Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties) as needed Customer service-oriented Computer skills (familiar with Microsoft Office applications) Good command of the English language both oral and written Valid driving license with a good driving record and access to a safe vehicle (must pass agency-sponsored inspection) for transporting people receiving services Ability to pass the criminal background check mandated by the State of Maryland WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally not exposed to weather conditions The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate Americans with Disability Specifications (Physical Demands) The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
