Position Title Tool and Equipment Manager Date Posted 05/04/2026 Location Everett, WA Pay Range $92,000.00 - $110,000.00 Position Overview The Tool & Equipment Business Manager leads UMC's tool and equipment operation as an internal business unit supporting field execution, jobsite readiness, and cost recovery. The role owns daily performance and long‑term development of the Tool & Equipment team, including eight direct reports made up of union and non‑union tool coordinators and specialists. Key responsibilities include managing a $6 million annual internal rental revenue operation, improving operational discipline, developing the team, and ensuring inventory accuracy and tool availability. Key Responsibilities Lead the Tool & Equipment team in daily execution, including work planning, prioritization, coaching, follow‑up, and performance management. Own the tool and equipment operation as an internal business unit, accountable for service quality, system accuracy, business volume, and internal rental charge discipline. Monitor and track tools and equipment by job site on a weekly and monthly basis. Maintain accurate service logs to ensure timely maintenance, repairs, and replacement of equipment. Keep tool and equipment pricing current in the ToolWatch system. Communicate regularly with Project Managers, Forepersons, and field leaders regarding tools currently rented to their projects. Drive on‑time request completion, inventory accuracy, and accurate tool charge dollar value. Identify opportunities to improve tool availability, return discipline, repair cycle time, inventory control, and overall customer service to jobsites. Build scalable processes that support company growth, improve accountability, and reduce waste. Required Skills and Abilities Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable. Ability to lead both daily execution and long‑term team development. Ability to manage a high‑volume service function with competing priorities and time‑sensitive requests. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate system records. Ability to use data, operating metrics, and field feedback to identify root causes and improve performance. Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to look around corners, identify future needs, and recommend practical innovations. Ability to maintain respectful and collaborative working relationships with union employees, non‑union employees, field leaders, and union representatives. Ability to communicate clearly with Project Managers, Forepersons, vendors, and internal leadership. Willingness to learn and adapt to new software, procedures, and policies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Supervisory Responsibility Lead daily work assignment and prioritization. Set clear expectations and performance standards. Coach team members and develop future capability. Own hiring decisions for the Tool & Equipment team. Lead corrective action and disciplinary follow‑up in partnership with HR. Support a respectful, safe, productive, and accountable work environment. Build team routines that improve communication, service quality, and execution. Preferred Education and Experience Two years of experience in a warehouse setting preferred. Two years of experience in inventory or returns management preferred. Experience in tool room operations, inventory control, logistics, warehouse operations, or construction support preferred. Hands‑on familiarity with tools and equipment preferred. Forklift or PIT experience preferred, but not required. Required Licensing and Other Certifications Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Success Measures On‑time request completion. Inventory accuracy.
