Lead Tech Preventive Maintenance Mechanical Engineering

This role focuses on preventive maintenance of automated equipment, supporting operations during ramp-up after PM, and improving equipment efficiency through technical analysis and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Execute Preventive Maintenance on automated equipment and support operations during ramp-up after each PM. Ensure all preventative maintenance activities are performed effectively, including opportunistic maintenance, in coordination with the Preventative Maintenance coordinator. Record maintenance details in full on designated forms / SAP; report and action abnormalities observed during Daily Task Maintenance / Planned Preventative Maintenance to reduce losses. Record spares used during preventive maintenance and analyze removed component parts to understand condition and establish ideal change frequency. Update SAP to reflect new/removed tasks to sustain/improve equipment efficiency. Apply technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic systems; knowledge of PLCs and Vision Systems, servo drivers, etc., to resolve process issues after PM interventions. Develop initiatives to improve efficiency on all machines under responsibility. Participate in updating and development of CILT, CL documents; follow safety procedures and use PPE as required. Collaborate with BD production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to meet goals; communicate performance goals and requirements identified by management. Support QN/CAPA activities as required (Corrective and Preventive Actions to address systemic issues in manufacturing and quality systems). Communicate with cross-functional team members and suppliers to understand product process and equipment specifications. May supervise or manage technicians, engineering interns or associate engineers; document process development including manufacturing procedures, protocols, and reports. Develop and maintain knowledge of product design, manufacture, and assembly techniques; estimate resource requirements, workload, and production times; train technicians, operations, and quality assurance on new design, process development, and test methods. Manage the manufacturing site selection process based on evaluation of internal sites, suppliers, and contract manufacturers. Qualifications Minimum Education: BA/BS Degree Required – Industrial, Mechanical, or other Engineering. Minimum Experience: Demonstrated leadership experience; experience reading manuals, electrical/pneumatic and mechanical drawings; 5 years’ experience in industrial manufacturing; 3 years’ experience in maintenance of high-speed automated assembly and packaging equipment. Experience in development of PLC codes and/or modification to codes; ERP systems experience (SAP, ORACLE, JD Edwards, etc.); proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access). Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish). Strong hands-on technical aptitude; ability to analyze data, interpret results, and write reports; basic tooling, design, and drafting knowledge. Strong knowledge in servo motion controls (e.g., Kinetix, Sinamics); PLC Allen Bradley; robot systems (Fanuc, ABB, Epson, Staubli); Rockwell Automation Software (Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, Factory Talk Machine Edition/Site Edition). Knowledge of advanced process control, networks, and Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Banner); experience with ultrasonic welding, various printers, packaging equipment, and pneumatics/electropneumatic systems. Ability to read schematics, perform sensor adjustments/replacements; basic SolidWorks or equivalent; AutoCAD, Pro-E experience preferred. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, see, and manipulate objects and tools. The employee is frequently required to communicate with others. The employee may reach with hands and arms and may stoop, kneel, or crouch. Physical activity includes climbing stairs, twisting and bending; may work in enclosed areas. Requires sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions and inspect parts.
