Position Overview

Majesty Brands is seeking an Assistant / Associate Designer to support the design and development of kids' and men's apparel, with potential involvement in women's apparel. This hands-on role focuses heavily on technical packs, CADs, technical flats, color and print/artwork, and accurate production-ready design files, while offering opportunities to contribute to seasonal design concepts.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in Adobe Illustrator, knowledgeable about garment construction, and comfortable balancing technical execution with creative design support across multiple categories and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, update, and maintain detailed tech packs, including technical flats, construction details, measurements, trims, colorways, and artwork specifications.
• Edit/Update Senior Designer’s CAD presentations for kids', men's, and potentially women's apparel.
• Translate design direction into clear, production-ready specifications for factories and vendors.
• Prepare and revise print layouts, repeat patterns, placement graphics, and color combinations.
• Support lab dip reviews, fabric and trim selection, sample reviews, and attend fittings.
• Communicate designs and subsequent revisions to overseas suppliers through email and PLM.
• Support seasonal design concepts, silhouettes, colors, prints, and graphics.
• Maintain organized design files, line sheets, artwork libraries, and technical documentation.
• Research trends, competitors, and retail assortments across relevant apparel categories.
• Coordinate with Design, Product Development, Production, and Merchandising to meet deadlines.

Experience & Skills

• 1-3 years of relevant apparel design experience; applicable internships may be considered.
• Strong Adobe Illustrator skills, especially technical flats, CADs, and tech packs; Photoshop proficiency preferred.
• A good eye for color and lap dip approvals with a light box.
• Understanding of garment construction, fabrics, trims, fit, and apparel manufacturing.
• Ability to interpret creative direction and produce accurate technical files.
• Experience with kids', men's, or women's apparel; multiple-category exposure preferred.
• Experience in private-label, licensed, mass-market, or off-price apparel is a plus.
• Knowledge of retailers such as TJX, Ross, and Walmart is helpful.
• Strong organization, communication, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• PLM system experience is a plus.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in apparel design or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred, or equivalent experience. I would accept an Associates from FIT, with a strong portfolio, and good experience, and the right attitude.
• Ability to commute to this job's New York City location.
• Ability to work in a fully onsite setting.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
• Portfolio with technical flats, CADs, tech packs, and apparel design work required.

Salary Disclosure

Majesty Brands is committed to offering a compensation package that reflects the qualifications and experience of the individual. The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. The posted salary range is $58,000 - $73,000 annually, with compensation determined based on qualifications, experience, and the responsibilities of the role.
