Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant OperatorPerform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment plant, including equipment maintenance, quality control/testing, and day-to-day activities on an assigned shift. You'll operate treatment facilities to control the flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent, and schedule work tasks for the Arkansas locations.Responsibilities:Schedule work tasks for the Arkansas locationsPerform maintenance of equipment, quality control/testing, and day-to-day activities on an assigned shiftOperate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluentMonitor gauges, meters, and control panelsObserve variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readingsOperate valves and gates either manually or by remote controlStart and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processesCollect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analysesPerform routine maintenance functions and custodial dutiesMake operating decisions in the absence of supervisory personnelUnderstand and carry out oral and written directionsEstablish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of workRequired:High school diploma or GEDValid driver's license with no major infractionsKnowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems; ability to operate plant PLCs and SCADA systemsPast work experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude — ability to apply simple mechanical and physical principles and determine how objects work and move, alone and in relation to other objectsMust obtain Arkansas Basic Industrial Wastewater License within the first 14 months on the jobPreferred:Basic familiarity with the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operationsArkansas Basic Industrial Wastewater License or higherSupervisory skills and abilities, demonstrated through experience leading people and scheduling work assignments1 year of experience operating water/wastewater treatment plantsBasic familiarity with the operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical sewage analyses; effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes; safe work practices
