Kinesiology Assistant Professor/Football Head Coach

Position Summary The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teachingassigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helpingstudents fulfill their maximum potential in mastering coursecontent; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining athorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field;continuing professional development; utilizing current technologyin the performance of job duties; maintaining standards ofprofessional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professionalposition; assisting with articulation and curriculum developmentand review; serving on college committees and participating infaculty governance including accreditation and studentco-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities asassigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties andresponsibilities of a full-time faculty member. Under the direction of the Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics, theKinesiology and Athletics Assistant Professor will serve as theHead Coach of the intercollegiate football team with an emphasis onOffensive Coordination. The position will also be responsible forteaching classes within the core curriculum of the Kinesiology andAthletics Division. Courses may include: activity, adapted physicaleducation, fitness, health education, kinesiology, recreation,and/or dance. Serving on campus committees and developingcurriculum is expected. Position Salary Information Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree,upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professionaloccupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximumplacement is Class V, Step 8). Typical Duties The responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to: Head Coaching Recruiting student-athletes Supervising student-athletes Assisting with the monitoring of student-athlete academicprogress and eligibility Creating a year-round strength training program Preparing budgets and fundraising Evaluating and maintaining equipment and supplies Coordinating team travel arrangements Selection and supervising assistant coaches Conducting the football program under the rules and regulationsof the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA)and the Northern California Football Conference (NCFC), NationalAssociation of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and the NationalCollegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Offensive Coordination Managing offensive players Overseeing the assistant coaches Developing the offensive game plan The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to teaching the following courses: KINES 350 Theory of Football SPORT 330 Football, Intercollegiate-Men SPORT 331 Off Season Conditioning for Football SPORT 332 Pre-Season Conditioning for Football TMACT 340 Football FITNS 375 Introduction to Meditation To view a complete list of courses for this discipline, pleasevisit the Programs and Majors webpage: ARC Programsand Majors Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercisescience, education with an emphasis in physical education,kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education; OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above; AND Master’sdegree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education,recreation administration or physical therapy; OR theequivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited institutioncompleted by time of hire. Three (3) years of coaching experience, with at least one (1)year of experience as a Head Coach or Assistant Head Coach.
