Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

This position involves working in a Medical Oncology unit with progressive care beds, including pediatric patients. The unit has a high acuity PCU and a limited number of medical-surgical beds.

Schedule

This role includes the possibility of a rotating schedule for 12-hour shifts, which may consist of days, nights, or a combination thereof, based on departmental needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every four weeks, but changes are not guaranteed and depend on staffing priorities at that time.

Special Procedures/Unit Details

The unit consists of 36 beds, with over 24 beds designated for PCU level of care. While pediatric patients are cared for in this unit, their occurrence is rare, and management would typically be conducted by permanent staff. Previous pediatric experience is not required for agency RNs in this role.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, including at least 1 year in PCU.
• Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale.
• Patient-to-nurse ratios: 1:4-5 for Med-Surg Telemetry and 1:3 for PCU.
• Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
• Previous travel experience is preferred.
