Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the PCU unit, focusing on Acute Leukemia care. This position involves providing high-quality care for adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with newly diagnosed acute leukemia. Experience in acute care nursing is required.

Job Details

• Unit: 15 East, Acute Leukemia
• Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• Rotation: 12 Hour Day/Night shifts may vary based on departmental needs.
• Staffing Ratios: Ideal is 1:4; may vary to 1:5.
• Weekends: Scheduled based on unit needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Certification in BLS and ACLS is required.
• Experience in telemetry and the ability to interpret dysrhythmias is essential.
• Basic computer skills, with experience in computerized charting using EPIC.

Preferred Certifications

• ONS Chemotherapy Certification
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification

Skills Required

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
• Management of feeding tubes.
• IV therapy and phlebotomy expertise.
• Administration of blood products.
• Management of central and peripheral lines, including PICC lines.
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams.

Special Focus

The candidate will have a strong emphasis on:

• Infection prevention protocols
• Patient falls prevention strategies
