Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

Seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Acute Leukemia unit. This role involves providing exceptional patient care for adults and geriatric patients with newly diagnosed acute leukemia. The position requires rotating shifts and may include a mix of day and night assignments, depending on department needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention strategies.
• Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Utilize Rapid Response Teams as needed.
• Administer IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood products.
• Manage feeding tubes, central lines, and PICC lines.
• Provide comprehensive assessments and care plans for patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
• Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations.
• Strong skills in telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
• Capable of managing IVs, blood draws, and peripheral line care.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Preferred Certifications

• ONS Chemo Certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Work Environment

This position is within a fast-paced unit where the staffing ratio is targeted at 1:4, with potential adjustments to 1:5 based on staffing needs. Weekend assignments may vary based on the unit's requirements.
