The primary responsibility of the Estimate Specialist is to generate precise cost estimates for medical procedures and services, taking into account insurance coverage, facility pricing, and patient-specific details. This role promotes transparency and empowers patients to make well-informed decisions regarding their healthcare expenses.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the EPIC electronic health record system to calculate patients' out-of-pocket costs for upcoming procedures or radiology services.
• Determine deductibles, coinsurance, copays, and out-of-pocket maximums for scheduled services.
• Communicate with patients via patient portals, email, text, and phone calls to provide estimates and payment information.
• Document out-of-pocket amounts in EPIC to ensure registrars are aware of payments due before services are rendered.
• Collect payments prior to procedures.
• Prepare estimates for high-cost radiology services, surgeries, and office procedures.
• Adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment while prioritizing tasks and fostering solutions.
• Model professional standards of behavior and support team compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with PC and experience in inpatient and outpatient insurance claim filing and reimbursement.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

Requirements & Skills

• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to calmly assist distressed or agitated patients and families.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter course at hire or within six months.
• Compliance with all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training requirements.
• Commitment to integrity, credibility, and organizational mission.
• Participation in ongoing education and compliance training as required.
