Work Environment

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner role is based onsite in Waldorf, MD, a vibrant community with a rich history and a strong support system for families. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, in a collaborative environment that prioritizes open communication and teamwork. Your day-to-day tasks will occur primarily in patient homes, which requires adaptability, critical thinking, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments, including physical examinations and developmental screenings, to diagnose and treat a range of pediatric conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in coordination with physicians, addressing both medical and psychological needs.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding health management, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications essential for children's growth.
• Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems to document patient interactions accurately and maintain continuity of care.
• Implement health promotion strategies, including vaccination programs and preventative care initiatives, to enhance community health.
• Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, as well as best practice guidelines, to deliver safe and effective patient care.
• Participate in ongoing professional development activities, staying updated with the latest pediatric healthcare trends and evidence-based practices.
• Work collaboratively with social workers and other community resources to provide support systems for families facing complex health challenges.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on a diverse patient population, ranging from infants to adolescents, including those with acute and chronic health issues. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment where children and their families feel comfortable and supported. Understanding various sociocultural backgrounds is crucial as you tailor treatments that reflect the unique values of each family.

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a focus on pediatrics and eligibility for licensure in Maryland.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program, with a Master's degree in Nursing being mandatory.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and other department-specific certifications as required.
• A strong commitment to providing compassionate and evidence-based care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective patient-provider relationships.

Preferred Experience

• At least five years of recent and relevant experience as a Nurse Practitioner in pediatric care, preferably in home health settings.

Compensation and Benefits
