Position Title Electrician and Instrumentation Technician Department Paper Mills, Hourly Maintenance, Electricians & Mechanics Reports To Maintenance Superintendent Location Macon, GA Sign-on Bonus $5,000 Position Scope This is a journey-level position with strong electrical and instrumentation skills. Responsible for troubleshooting and servicing all production and support equipment within the facility in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring minimal downtime. Works closely with Operations and Mechanical Maintenance Team to provide maximum facility support. Responsibilities Repairs, maintains and installs wiring, motors (up to 14KV), motor controls, PLCs, AC/DC Drives, transformers, generators, lighting, instrumentation, valves and other electrical systems. Troubleshoot and service all production and support equipment to ensure minimal downtime. Provide technical support using electrical testing equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Study plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs or installations. Apply NFPA Guidelines, including publication 70 (National Electric Code) and regulation 820. Specifications Commitment to safety and quality. Experience with AC and DC Drives, variable frequency drives, PLCs and motor controls. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Good verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools and technical testing equipment. Can work independently and in a team environment to complete work orders. Willingness to update job knowledge through education. Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime. Physical ability to lift up to 74 pounds and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping and climbing. Required Background 3–5 years of troubleshooting experience with close support of production equipment as a first‑class journey‑level electrician. Excellent teamwork skills. Understanding of National Electric Code (NEC). Experience with electric motors, drives and PLCs. Education High school diploma or GED.
