Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Details Location: HGC Industries - Indianapolis, IN 46218 • Position Type: Full Time • Education Level: 2 Year Degree • Salary Range: $25.00 - $28.00 Hourly • Travel Percentage: None • Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday-Friday • Category: Accounting Job Summary The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for all Accounts Payable functions for the company including printing vendor invoices, matching packing slips to invoices, entering invoices, running weekly check runs, reconciling vendor statements, and supporting daily office tasks. The position supports the accounting department in the full functionality of Accounts Payable, including accurate daily matching and invoice processing, weekly payment runs, year‑end 1099 processing, and collaboration with other departments as needed. JOB OVERVIEW The Accounts Payable Specialist contributes to the HGC company's mission by ensuring vendors are paid in a timely manner per agreed‑upon terms and maintains open communication, resulting in timely invoice entry and a real‑time snapshot of cash flow. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Print vendor invoices Match packing slips to invoices Enter accounts payable invoices Run weekly check runs Reconcile vendor statements and correspondence Assist with other office tasks (filing, mail, record maintenance, scanning, copying) Work independently and make decisions in accordance with established finance policies and regulations Assist with Accounts Receivable as needed Maintain confidentiality at all times Maintain high moral character and good attendance record Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks and perform other duties as needed and/or assigned REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES Proficient math skills, including multi‑step calculations and reasoning Strong computer skills with ability to learn and use various software systems efficiently and accurately enter and manage data Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to effectively manage both emotional and social intelligence Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong Excel skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Detail‑oriented and self‑motivated, with ability to work independently, identify issues, and follow tasks through to completion Excellent time‑management skills and ability to efficiently manage priorities and tasks based on importance Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail High adaptive capacity to manage demands and frequent change, delays, or unexpected events Ability to work self‑sufficiently to ensure accuracy and quality of tasks Ability to navigate and resolve internal or external situations effectively and resourcefully Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, co‑workers, and HGC Industries partners QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma required, Associate’s degree preferred; 7 years of Accounts Payable experience required in lieu of degree Minimum 5 years of Accounts Payable experience required Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint Experience working within an ERP system preferred Experience with Microsoft NAV (preferred) or Epicor Kinetic (a plus) PHYSICAL DEMANDS Sitting and walking for long periods; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; occasionally push, pull, twist, reach, and engage in rapid reflex movements; occasionally climb ladders, scaffolding, and stairs if needed; occasionally lift, move, and carry up to 50 pounds. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Manufacturing plant and office employees may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS None COMPENSATION $25 to $28 per hour based on experience. CLASSIFICATION Full‑Time, Non‑Exempt. SCHEDULE Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
