Pediatric Intensivist Opportunity

Carilion Children's is recruiting a pediatric intensivist for Carilion Children's Hospital located in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH). CRMH is a Level One, 763 bed, trauma and academic/tertiary care center serving Southwest VA with the only PICU and dedicated pediatric unit along with Level 1 pediatric trauma center for the region. The attending team provides coverage for the PICU, dedicated NeoPeds Transport team, sedation services and inpatient quality. The intensivists have academic appointments with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and teach medical students and residents. They are Pediatric Fundamentals of Critical Care Medicine course providers, running the course 4-5 times yearly. Carilion Children's Hospital includes an 8-bed PICU with over 500 admissions per year, 24-bed inpatient pediatric ward, 60-bed NICU and dedicated pediatric ER, serving as the tertiary referral center for 185,000 children in Southwest VA. The facility provides a full range of critical care services except for open heart, ECMO and transplant services. Pediatric expertise and support available in most subspecialties. Qualifications include completion of a pediatric residency program and pediatric critical care medicine fellowship. Applicants must be ABMS/AOA-BE/BC in pediatric critical care medicine. Sedation skills and experience would be beneficial. Experience instructing the PFCCM course is a plus. Must possess enthusiasm for clinical service and teaching. Research activity is encouraged and supported at Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. Carilion Clinic maintains an active Office of Sponsored Projects to support and encourage the development of physicians to develop and grow clinical research projects. The PICU team includes second and third-year pediatric residents as well as third year emergency medicine residents. The attendings are also involved with didactic resident education. This position carries a faculty appointment with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.
