Position Summary

We are seeking a Patient Access Representative / Registrar to support patient registration and front-end revenue cycle activities in a hospital outpatient and Emergency Department environment. The role involves registering patients, verifying demographics and insurance, scheduling services, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare patient access, registration, admissions, scheduling, insurance verification, medical front office, or healthcare customer service experience .
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills and ability to navigate multiple applications.
• Ability to work onsite in a hospital environment.
• English speaking, reading, and writing proficiency.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree or healthcare-related certificate.
• 1–2 years of hospital registration, patient access, admissions, insurance verification, scheduling, or revenue cycle experience.
• Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, or inpatient admissions experience.
• Insurance authorization or verification experience.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar registration systems .
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bilingual communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Register patients and enter demographic and insurance information accurately.
• Obtain HIPAA, Consent to Treat, and other required signatures.
• Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
• Resolve insurance discrepancies and obtain coverage information.
• Verify workers’ compensation and automobile insurance when applicable.
• Schedule Radiology, Laboratory, and ancillary services.
• Complete Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery registrations.
• Perform Surgical Day admissions.
• Manage bed control, transfers, admissions, and discharge activities.
• Collect copays, deductibles, coinsurance, balances, and self-pay amounts.
• Provide preparation instructions for scheduled services and procedures.
• Assess financial needs and coordinate financial counseling referrals.
• Perform records retrieval, faxing, filing, typing, transcribing, and mailing.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, files, and departmental documentation.
• Complete online death certificate registry documentation.
• Receive and secure patient valuables.
• Monitor Patient Access and Revenue Cycle work queues.
• Maintain compliance with departmental policies, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Participate in training, meetings, and continuous improvement activities.

Schedule & Additional Details

• Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
• Week 2: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• Weekend and holiday rotation required.
• Microsoft Teams interviews.
• Temp-to-perm opportunity based on performance, attendance, and business need.
• Day-shift shuttle parking fee: $4/week .
• Business casual or scrubs required; no Crocs or open-toed shoes.
