Preclinical R&D Scientist for AI Drug Discovery

Role Overview

Apply hands-on drug development experience to help shape AI platforms and physics-based foundation models used in chemistry, materials science, and drug discovery. This opportunity is designed for preclinical R&D experts who have advanced internally developed drug programs from the bench toward the clinic and can provide practical scientific judgment across drug modalities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review technical materials and real-world R&D data within your scientific specialty.
• Label, classify, and annotate scientific data and model outputs to support model improvement.
• Advise on scientific and development decisions, including target and modality selection, optimization, trade-offs, and risk.
• Help establish the structure and quality standards for dataset pipelines.
• Participate in expert discussions, interviews, and research engagements.
• Work directly with the client team.

Qualifications

• Hands-on, non-administrative preclinical R&D experience at a company that develops its own drug assets in-house and has advanced programs to the clinic. This is required.
• Experience in a core R&D function, such as discovery biology, medicinal chemistry, protein or antibody engineering, computational R&D, in vivo or translational research, pharmacology or PK-PD, toxicology, or CMC or formulation. This is required.
• Hands-on experience with one or more modalities, including small molecules, monoclonal antibodies, peptides, ADCs, bispecifics, mRNA, siRNA, ASOs, PROTACs, molecular glues, cell therapies, gene therapies, or radioligand therapies.
• 5+ years of relevant industry R&D experience, with flexibility based on depth of experience.
• Experience advancing a program through lead optimization or IND-enabling or preclinical development is preferred.
• Experience at a mid-sized, emerging, or resource-constrained biotech is preferred, ideally outside the top 20 pharmaceutical companies.

Fit Considerations

This role is best suited to hands-on preclinical R&D practitioners. It is unlikely to be a fit for candidates whose work is primarily CRO or CDMO services, academic-only research, QC or analytical work, clinical development only, diagnostics, or regulatory or medical writing.

Work Terms

• Remote, hourly engagement.
• Open to seniority levels from individual contributor through Director.

Compensation

$85 to $142 per hour.
