Physicist for AI Training, Statistical Physics

Role Overview
Apply advanced physics expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through a research-focused project spanning theoretical physics and numerical benchmarking. You will provide high-quality real-world input that supports how AI systems learn, reason, and perform. Prior AI experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze complex statistical-physics phenomena, including replicated random-bond Ising and Ashkin-Teller models, toric-code thresholds, and the Nishimori line.
- Develop clear, well-documented solutions and critiques involving Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, square-lattice self-duality, and domain-wall free energy.
- Conduct and interpret advanced numerical work involving 4-state Potts model simulations.
- Identify, discuss, and resolve technical issues involving noncontractible loop defects and related topological features.
- Contribute as a Solver, Auditor, or Adjudicator on assignments aligned with your expertise and subfield strengths.
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent advanced experience in physics, with specialization in statistical physics, quantum information, or condensed matter theory.
- Hands-on research or project experience using Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, and square-lattice self-duality.
- Demonstrated ability to run numerical simulations of the 4-state Potts model and analyze domain-wall free energy.
- Familiarity with topological quantum codes, particularly the toric code and its threshold behavior.
Work Terms
- Part-time independent contractor engagement.
- Fully remote, open to candidates worldwide.
- Flexible commitment of 5 to 10 or more hours per week, including the option to work after hours and on weekends.
Compensation
$100 to $200 per hour.
