Statistical Physics Researcher for AI Model Training

Apply advanced expertise in statistical physics, quantum information, or condensed matter theory to a research-focused project combining theoretical analysis, numerical benchmarking, and AI model training. This part-time contractor role centers on complex problems involving disordered systems, duality, topological phenomena, and computational physics. Key Responsibilities

• Apply subject matter expertise to produce high-quality technical input that helps train and evaluate next-generation AI systems.
• Analyze advanced statistical physics problems involving replicated random-bond Ising and Ashkin-Teller models, toric-code thresholds, and the Nishimori line.
• Develop clear, well-documented solutions or critiques related to Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, square-lattice self-duality, and domain-wall free energy.
• Perform and interpret advanced numerical work involving 4-state Potts model simulations.
• Identify, discuss, and resolve technical issues involving noncontractible loop defects and related topological features.
• Contribute to project assignments as a Solver, Auditor, or Adjudicator based on relevant experience and subfield strengths.

• PhD or equivalent advanced experience in physics, with specialization in statistical physics, quantum information, or condensed matter theory.
• Strong knowledge of Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, square-lattice self-duality, domain-wall free energy, noncontractible loop defects, and related statistical physics concepts.
• Direct hands-on experience applying Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, and square-lattice self-duality in research or project settings is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with numerical simulations of the 4-state Potts model and analysis of domain-wall free energy is preferred.
• Familiarity with topological quantum codes, particularly the toric code and threshold phenomena, is preferred.
• No prior AI experience is required.

• Part-time independent contractor engagement.
• Fully remote and open to candidates worldwide.
• Expected commitment of 5 to 10 or more hours per week.
• Hours are fully flexible, including the ability to work after hours or on weekends if needed.
• Specific assignments may vary based on project needs, relevant experience, and subfield expertise.

Compensation ranges from $100 to $200 per hour.
