Social Services Coordinator

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90041 | Position Type: Full Time | Salary: $27.00 - $28.00 per hour | Travel: Up to 25% Position Overview The Social Service Coordinator supports the well‑being and engagement of residents at two senior housing communities, allocating approximately 60% of their time to an 80‑unit property and 40% to a 34‑unit property, both serving senior and/or disabled residents. The coordinator ensures that residents’ social service, behavioral health, and physical health needs are identified and addressed through appropriate referrals and coordination with community service providers while working closely with property management to support resident wellness and independence. The role also includes planning and facilitating daily and monthly programming that promotes community involvement, including activities such as bingo, arts and crafts, chair exercises, resident luncheons, and educational workshops on topics such as health and finance. In addition, the coordinator develops a monthly activities calendar in collaboration with the Property Manager, encourages resident participation in programs and services, maintains an organized and sanitary activity environment, and ensures that necessary supplies are available to support resident activities. What We Offer Pay: $27.00 - $28.00 per hour Schedule: Full‑time (40 hours per week), Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 401(k) with employer match Time Off: Paid vacation and 15 paid company holidays Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain healthy and productive professional helping relationships with all residents to ensure that residents’ social service, behavioral healthcare, and physical healthcare needs are routinely, promptly, and appropriately addressed. Ensure residents actively participate in voluntary services by attending meetings and scheduled appointments. Ensure residents and their guests conduct themselves appropriately and promote mutual respect among property management staff and resident neighbors, maintaining harmony in the community. Encourage residents to cooperate with property management and maintenance staff in maintaining their units and addressing special maintenance problems. Provide access to and participation in on‑site workshops and social programs designed to develop residents’ skills for maintaining long‑term housing stability and self‑sufficiency. Assist residents in seeking appropriate assistance for solving problems, addressing changes, and responding to crises. Help residents achieve and maintain maximum independence and self‑sufficiency in their homes. Promote long‑term residential stability in the HACLA community. Conduct regular meetings with property management staff and service providers to establish and continuously improve standard policies and procedures for effectively addressing resident and property issues and concerns. Collaborate with property management, security, maintenance staff, and community agencies to develop, document, and coordinate the execution of collaborative and intensive individualized plans for residents experiencing significant challenges. Conduct frequent and routine friendly visits to resident units to maintain a positive presence and awareness of the Coordinator’s purpose and availability. Develop, plan, coordinate, and conduct regular training programs for property management, maintenance, security, and other staff to enhance skills and expertise in operating permanent supportive housing programs. Lead workshops, classes, and social programs for residents to promote community development, social integration, and self‑sufficiency. Identify, access, and maintain relationships with community resources to support residents and staff, bringing resources on‑site when possible. Provide continuous feedback on resident issues and concerns to property management staff and social service providers through frequent communication and team meetings. Advocate for and develop resources for the apartment community and affordable permanent supportive housing programs by collecting and maintaining accurate data and reports on activities and outcomes. Drive to local areas, company meetings, and sister properties when necessary. Review all emails daily and respond within 24 hours. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner. All other duties as assigned. Maintain a positive, professional attitude at all times. Participate in training to comply with new or existing laws. Demonstrate strong command of the English language, proper grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and strong writing and proofreading skills. Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Maintain neat, clean, professional appearance during the workday and whenever present at the community. Comply with expectations as demonstrated in the employee handbook. Diffuse and respond to customer concerns to avoid escalation. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in social work, behavioral health or related field, or 2-3 years related experience. Minimum of two years of experience working in programs serving homeless or other special needs populations. Experience working in a supportive housing or other residential setting a plus. Personal commitment to the mission of affordable senior housing. Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
