About the Position – Intake Specialist
The Intake Specialist role provides frontline intake services to members entering New Freedom’s Intensive Outpatient Program and serves as one of the initial points of contact to ensure members experience a supportive, positive, and successful entry into services. This position is responsible for reviewing eligibility, program expectations, and admission criteria prior to members meeting with their assigned clinical providers, while maintaining a thorough understanding of the organization’s treatment philosophy, intake processes, and program requirements. The Intake Specialist must possess foundational knowledge of substance use disorders and dual diagnosis and be able to clinically assess members to recommend an appropriate level of care using ASAM and LOCUS criteria. This role requires the ability to utilize therapeutic techniques, actively listen to members, complete suicide risk and trauma assessments, and engage members in collaborative treatment planning sessions. Additionally, the Intake Specialist is expected to communicate concerns and clinical needs to management when they arise and to partner effectively with the clinical team and cross-functional departments to ensure both clinical and administrative intake services are delivered efficiently and ethically.
Your Impact Will Include:
- Conducts comprehensive intake assessments, accurately identifying and documenting appropriate diagnoses.
- Utilize AI integrated EHR and use attention to detail to spot any opportunities within intake assessments.
- Make appropriate level of care recommendations based on ASAM and LOCUS criteria.
- Develops individualized treatment plans aligned with goals identified during the assessment process.
- Provides thorough program orientation, ensuring member understanding of informed consent, program policies, rights, responsibilities, confidentiality, treatment expectations, and all required state and federal regulations.
- Reviews program options, grievance and appeals processes, advance directives, comorbidity resources, after hours access, code of ethics, and all policies related to safety, substances, and program participation; supplies and explains the member handbook.
- Ensures all new admissions and readmissions receive full orientation on the first day when possible, and always within seven working days of admission.
- Completes warm hand offs to clinical and cross functional support teams once all intake tasks are finalized.
- Meets established KPIs, actively participates in required clinical supervision, and maintains all continuing education requirements.
- Performing additional duties as assigned to support our mission.
Where You’ll Work
- Primarily onsite at our offices.
- Requires occasional travel to various program sites/facilities
- Requires use of standard office equipment including but not limited to computer-use, monitors/screen, desk, chair, etc.
- Using standard office equipment, plus plenty of face-to-face interaction.
- Some days will require long periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
