Job Description

• Partner with practice leadership to develop and execute strategic growth plans for the Corporate practice, particularly within M&A and Private Equity
• Lead all aspects of pitches, RFPs, proposals, and client presentations, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective follow-through
• Identify and pursue client growth opportunities through market research, competitive intelligence, and data-driven business development strategies
• Develop and execute targeted client development initiatives, from strategic planning through implementation and relationship expansion
• Drive lateral partner business development strategy, including integration planning and market positioning for new M&A and Private Equity partners
• Monitor industry, client, and competitor developments, translating market intelligence into actionable recommendations for lawyers and practice leaders
• Manage and mentor junior business development professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of key marketing and business development materials, including pitches, attorney biographies, web content, and practice collateral
• Lead strategy and execution for high-profile client events, thought leadership initiatives, speaking engagements, rankings submissions, and industry awards.
• Manage M&A and Private Equity deal tracking, reporting, and database initiatives to support business planning, marketing, and market visibility efforts

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Business Development Manager should have:

• Bachelor's degree; Advanced degree, JD or MBA a plus
• Minimum of 7 years of experience with business development in legal or professional services; 3+ years of management experience
• Relevant practice group experience and working with stakeholders in Corporate practices
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new opportunities
• Team leadership and mentoring capabilities

What’s on Offer

• Competitive salary ranging from $200,000 to $230,000 USD for NY market; commensurate with experience
