Core Product Lead

Role Description

We're hiring a Core Product Lead to own the product strategy across Core. You'll manage the PMs who run each product, set the bets that decide what Core becomes over the next 12–18 months, and make the cross-product calls no individual PM can. The role reports to the Head of Product.

• Build and develop the Core PM team:
  • Manage the PMs across Platform, Databases, Auth, Storage, Functions, and Realtime.
  • Hire into open seats, coach the PMs already on the team, run performance cycles.
  • Ensure every product surface has an owner who can carry it.
• Set the product strategy across Core:
  • Decide where the bets are and how the products reinforce each other.
  • Defend that agenda with the founders and the engineering leads who run each team.
• Make the cross-product calls:
  • Own prioritization between products, understanding interdependencies.
• Coach PMs on the craft:
  • Focus on customer evidence, problem definition, prioritization, success metrics, written communication.
  • Participate in customer calls and roadmap reviews, provide feedback on PMs' work.
• Represent Core in leadership:
  • Speak to the state of every Core product in various settings without pulling in individual PMs.
  • Translate engineering reality into actionable stories for the company.

Qualifications

• Have managed product managers before, ideally at the Director level or equivalent.
• 8+ years of product management experience on developer tools or infrastructure, or an ex-founder background with the same depth.
• Have shipped in the Postgres, database, or developer-infrastructure space.
• Are biased toward speed.
• Use AI to move faster.
• Work async by default.

Requirements

• Experience hiring, firing, and coaching PMs through promotions.
• Technical enough to read architecture docs and engage in design discussions.
• Understanding of how developers evaluate products in the relevant categories.
• Familiarity with open-source go-to-market strategies is a bonus.
