Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services Date Prepared: July 2026 Program Summary Healthy Families—a free, voluntary program—works closely with parents of newborns through a series of home visits. Families are enrolled before the babies are 3 months old. The goals of Healthy Families are to promote positive parent-child relationships, support healthy childhood growth and development, and enhance family functioning by teaching parents to identify strengths and utilize problem-solving skills. We also provide information on child development, infant care, free screenings, and connections to supportive community services. Job Summary We are looking for a Bilingual Spanish Family Support Specialist to promote positive parent-child relationships, support healthy childhood growth and development, and enhance family functioning for families with newborns in Multnomah County through home visiting. Job Responsibilities Deliver parent and child education services in home visit settings to parents and their babies 0‑3 years of age according to families’ individual goal plans and developmental stage. Work with families, supervisor, and Healthy Families team to promote positive parent-child relationships, support healthy growth and development, and enhance problem-solving skills. Effectively work with families and individuals of diverse backgrounds, including teen parents and families with mental health, substance use, domestic violence concerns, or poverty. Maintain accurate, legible, timely documentation of contact and progress of families. Complete ongoing evaluation documentation and assessments for each family in accordance with Healthy Families standards. Connect families with community resources and support self‑advocacy across systems. Encourage and facilitate family participation in program and community activities. Serve as a cohesive member of the team, participate in problem solving, and promote innovation. Provide support and development opportunities to new staff, interns, and volunteers. Establish and maintain professional boundaries. Meet weekly for 1.5 hours with supervisor for supervision. Fulfill all training and evaluation requirements as established by Healthy Families standards and Impact NW. Possess and maintain a valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and reliable access to a personal vehicle for travel to home visits and other work-related locations. Qualifications Bilingual Spanish/English required. Experience and humility to work with culturally diverse families, especially Latinx communities. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, social work, or related field preferred. Knowledge of infant and child development, with preference for Infant Mental Health Endorsement® through Oregon Infant Mental Health Association. Experience providing early childhood education services to low‑income children prenatal to 5 years and their families, and preferably with infants and toddlers. Ability to provide strengths-based, client-centered services in a culturally responsive manner. Ability to establish trusting relationships and accept individual differences. Willingness to engage in building reflective capacity and to participate in supervision. Ability and willingness to work as a dependable, flexible team member supporting Impact NW’s mission and goals. Excellent writing, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to function independently and use ethical judgment in decision-making. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Basic computer skills. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation. Physical Requirements Repetitive motion, prolonged sitting, and extensive visual involvement. Ability to travel efficiently to perform duties. Moderate lifting of supplies and materials.
