Corporate Staff Accountant

This position is an entry level role in the corporate accounting function of a growing, employee‑owned (ESOP) construction company. The Corporate Staff Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Manager on core accounting responsibilities and day‑to‑day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is a strong team player with solid communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. Key Responsibilities Monthly close activities, including preparation of balance sheet and bank reconciliations. Support general ledger maintenance and basic journal entry preparation. Help ensure accurate and timely month‑end reporting. Assist with payment processing, vendor payments, coding transactions accurately, and other transactional accounting functions as needed. Help maintain organized accounting records and documentation. Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting functions as needed. Help code transactions accurately while maintaining the proper documentation consistent with internal SOP. Contribute to special projects as assigned, including process improvements, system enhancements, and integration of new or acquired entities. Partner with cross‑functional teams assigned for various ad‑hoc projects. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred. Accounting experience preferred; open to candidates with varying levels of experience. Basic understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations. Experience with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel preferred. Construction or corporate accounting experience is a plus but not required.
