Registered Nurse (RN) | Behavioral Health | Acute Unit

Location and Work Hours Avera Behavioral Health Center – Sioux Falls, South Dakota Regular full‑time position. Work shift includes rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays (United States of America). Pay and Incentives Hourly pay range: $32.50 – $48.50, depending on experience. Eligible for a sign‑on bonus of up to $15,000. Job Overview The acute unit is an 18‑bed short‑term inpatient setting focused on safety and stabilization. Patients participate in expressive therapies such as art, music, and fitness therapy while receiving nursing care. Key Responsibilities Provide patient‑focused care, including physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Develop and implement nursing care plans, including nursing diagnoses, objectives, and interventions. Document and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by following infection‑control policies, medication administration protocols, and controlled substance regulations. Communicate relevant information to physicians, nurses, and other health care team members. Assist with teaching patients and families about their conditions, medications, and self‑care skills. Perform routine equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and supplies management. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license from the state of practice. Visual acuity adequate to perform duties and effective communication, hearing, and understanding skills. Proficiency in professional nursing practice, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Preferred Education, License, or Experience 1–3 years of experience in a clinical environment. Demonstrated experience caring for adults with conditions such as schizophrenia, psychosis, bipolar disorder, depression, and addictive disorders.
