Gallery Director

Carousel Fine Art

Carousel Fine Art is looking for a Gallery Director to lead our potential new location in Chevy Chase, Maryland . This is not simply a sales role. We are looking for a true leader, someone who can build relationships, represent artists with confidence, manage a team, create a strong collector experience, and help establish Carousel as one of the leading contemporary art galleries in the Washington, D.C. market. About Carousel Fine Art Carousel Fine Art is a growing contemporary art gallery group with locations across major U.S. markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, West Palm Beach, and beyond. We represent an international roster of established and emerging artists and work closely with private collectors, interior designers, developers, hotels, and luxury real estate professionals. Our approach is highly personal. We believe in bringing the gallery experience beyond the walls — through private viewings, in‑home presentations, advisory services, events, installations, and long‑term collector relationships. The Role The Gallery Director will be responsible for launching, managing, and growing the Chevy Chase gallery. This person will act as the local face of Carousel Fine Art, overseeing sales, client development, team performance, events, partnerships, and the overall collector experience. We are looking for someone who understands that a successful gallery is built on trust, taste, consistency, and relationships. Sales & Collector Development Lead sales efforts for the Chevy Chase location. Build and maintain strong relationships with collectors, designers, real estate professionals, corporate clients, and local partners. Develop new collector relationships through outreach, events, referrals, and community engagement. Guide clients through acquisitions with professionalism, discretion, and confidence. Conduct private appointments, in‑home viewings, and off‑site presentations. Follow up with leads consistently and manage the full sales pipeline. Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets. Gallery Leadership Serve as the leader and standard‑setter for the Chevy Chase gallery. Recruit, train, manage, and motivate gallery advisors and support staff. Create a culture of accountability, professionalism, and excellence. Hold the team responsible for outreach, follow‑up, client service, and sales performance. Lead by example on the floor and with client relationships. Provide weekly reporting on sales, pipeline, events, client activity, and team performance. Client Experience Ensure every visitor receives a warm, polished, and elevated gallery experience. Maintain strong standards for presentation, communication, and follow‑through. Coordinate white‑glove service, including delivery, installation, framing, and client care. Help collectors build meaningful collections, not just purchase individual works. Represent Carousel Fine Art with discretion, sophistication, and integrity. Local Market Development Build Carousel’s presence in the Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Washington D.C., Potomac, McLean, Georgetown, and surrounding luxury markets. Develop relationships with interior designers, architects, developers, luxury realtors, private clubs, hotels, and community organizations. Identify opportunities for private events, partnerships, sponsorships, and off‑site exhibitions. Help position the gallery as a cultural and social destination in the market. Operations & Gallery Standards Oversee the daily operation of the gallery. Maintain gallery presentation, artwork placement, inventory standards, and client‑facing materials. Coordinate with ownership, marketing, logistics, and artist relations teams. Ensure CRM usage is consistent, accurate, and disciplined. Support event planning, artist receptions, collector previews, and VIP experiences. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has experience in art sales, luxury sales, gallery management, interior design, high‑end retail, private client services, or another relationship‑driven field. We are especially interested in someone who: Has strong knowledge of the Chevy Chase / Bethesda / D.C. collector market. Has an existing network of collectors, designers, or luxury clients. Understands how to sell high‑value artwork or luxury goods. Can lead a team without needing to be micromanaged. Is comfortable with ambitious sales goals. Has excellent taste, communication skills, and emotional intelligence. Is organized, consistent, and highly accountable. Knows how to turn a gallery into a destination. Wants to grow with a fast‑moving company. Requirements 5+ years of experience in fine art, luxury sales, gallery management, design, private client services, or a related field. Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships. Strong sales record or clear evidence of business development success. Leadership or management experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable with CRM systems, client follow‑up, reporting, and structured outreach. Professional presence and ability to engage with high‑net‑worth clients. Availability for gallery events, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed. Compensation Competitive base salary plus performance‑based commission and growth opportunities. Why Join Carousel Fine Art This is an opportunity to help launch and lead a new market for a growing gallery group. The right person will not just manage a location — they will help shape the future of Carousel Fine Art in the Washington, D.C. region. How to Apply Please send your resume and a short note explaining your background, your connection to the Chevy Chase / D.C. market, and why this opportunity interests you. email: View email address on click.appcast.io Carousel Fine Art Galleries Chevy Chase, Maryland / Washington, D.C.
